Sanity Restored

I'm feeling far less mad today, something I think you'll all be truly grateful about. My family certainly are. They've stopped eyeing me quizzically before speaking and are even inclined to remain in the same room as me for a few minutes. Only yesterday I managed to hold a calm conversation with Tilly. Well, I say conversation ... it was something along these lines :

Me: I need to treat your verrucas
Tilly: No you don't
Me: Yes I do, really. Now.
Tilly: I don't have verrucas
Me: Yes you do. But they have nearly gone and if you let me treat them they'll soon vanish.
Tilly: I've decided that I don't have them anymore. So they're gone now. And if you didn't hate me you'd realize that. And since when did you have the right to say whether I have verrucas or not. I don't have asthma either so I'm not doing my in
halers and there's NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO MAKE ME SO THERE AND I HATE YOU TOO AND I'M GOING BACK TO SCHOOL LIKE NOW!!!!
Me: It's 50 miles to school. It's dark. It's raining.
Tilly: That is so unfair! But I don't care I'm going anyway. I'll walk. You can't stop me.

I left her to it. She ranted and railed against the injustices of having a mother who not only hates her but is treating her for conditions she doesn't have. I had a glass of wine. A large one. And I sat in the lounge trying to forget that it was only the first day of the holidays ...

Ooops sorry, I forgot to tell you the very exciting news that the mother of this lot has given me a lovely new and shiny award that her daughter has made:

Isn't it lovely? I take great delight in passing it on to madness that is Holly's Never Ever Land and the fabulous new look Ms Jo Beaufoix. Enjoy ladies :o)

Glad you like the award!

Do you think all that time at sea has turned you into such a bad mother?

Verucca duty? Remember it well. When it hurts enough, she'll let you treat it.

wow! i didn't know we could decide not to have things anymore. she's on to something she is! she should patent it. she could pay for the patent with the power of her hatred.

Darling - at least you can sort of laugh at it - now....

Imagine what another 10 years will bring. Peace? Quiet? Maturity of a sort?

Be strong!

Wine is usually the answer and if it isn't who cares anyway after the third glass?

mob - there are times when it is sorely tempting ... believe me!

aims - oh I laugh, a little maniacally maybe, but it's still laughing ...

dumdad - wise parenting advice, you should write a book. Any parenting book that tells me that wine is the answer I'd buy by the dozen ;o)

jo - Yay for May!
